I just checked the ones that I saw checked in the diagram. Andrew did you check the others. Was a little worried about that.
I somewhat haphazardly checked everything except the bash history and some Firefox stuff I know I needed (like bookmarks, etc). Haven’t noticed any negative effects yet.
UbuntuGeek: Thanks for the article! A major new release 0.3.0 is almost ready, and the GUI changed a bit.
Readers: A newer version 0.2.1 was release about a week ago. You can get it from the BleachBit web site.
Ben: It doesn’t update the software, it only notifies you of an update (like OpenOffice.org). One reason for the notification is that as a very new application, it isn’t in the repositories of most distributions. However, it has recently been added to Ubuntu 9.04.
Andrew awesome thank you very very much.
Should be:
wget http://downloads.sourceforge.net/bleachbit/bleachbit_0.2.1-1_all_ubuntu810.debIt has removed about 250mb for me…..
thanks.
I just installed Jaunty jackalope 9.04 with ext4 file system last night.Installed all my apps and of course Bleachbit from the repo and launched it = 350 MB of junk cleaned after a clean install.
Nice job Andrew, cant wait for the next release body.
Thanks again for your hard work,Regards.
It did seem to clean the history in Firefox
It did NOT seem to clean the history in Firefox..
Failed to clean History
Bill:
It’s already fixed for 0.3.0, which is 97% ready to be released.
Yes, there is a bug in 0.2.1.
Thanks a zillion. I have a tiny hard disk and so i constantly run out of space. Thanks for freeing precious 500mb. Can anyone tell me why my HD space decreases automatically, without installing or copying anything at all?
