ClassicMenu Indicator – Notification area applet for the top panel of Unity desktop

ClassicMenu Indicator is a notification area applet (application indicator) for the top panel of Ubuntu’s Unity desktop environment. It provides a simple way
to get a classic GNOME-style application menu for those who prefer this over the Unity dash menu. Like the classic GNOME menu, it includes Wine games and applications if you have those installed.

Install ClassicMenu Indicator on ubuntu

Open the terminal and run the following commands

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:diesch/testing

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install classicmenu-indicator

Thank you thank you thank you. Quicker, easier and more logical than the silly launcher for under 25s that Unity comes with.

The very existence of this is proof of the absurdity of the lenses system. The fact that some put time and energy into creating this menu shows that the great new idea is badly flawed. I like to have the ability to search my menu, but I, and most of the people I know, don’t want the search to completely replace the menu. Gnome Do has done this job well for years. Mint Menu does a fantastic job too.
