After install, the menu path is
Applications > Multimedia > Gnome ALSA mixer

Thanks, that solved my problem as well.

You can also turn off the same setting in Alsamixergui.

Don’t know if I would have ever found it without this post, though.

Sorted my install of Ubuntu 10.10. Installed OS from scratch, but sound wouldn’t work for my Creative Audigy Ex Pro. Installed gnome-alsamixer, ticked and then unticked ‘Audigy Analog/Digital Output Jack’ in the appropriate device, and BLAM it WORKS! Lovely.

Turning on the Sigma-tel in Alsa mixerthis worked fine after upgrade from 9.10 to 10.04 and no sound!

Thanks, it helped me out with my Audigy 4. It would play the sound very quietly and with terrible distortion before I did this.

@eco2geek: I actually had to turn ON the “Audigy Analog/Digital Output Jack” option.
