This article sounded great when I found it, but having read the comments re copyright I won´t be using these books. Writers need a return for their work. If someone puts loads of work into a book only to have it copied and used without their permission, this will just discourage them from writing an updated edition later. I know you are trying to help people access documentation, but this will actually cause less documentation to be available in future.

For any reader interested in info on Ubuntu, there are plenty of books available for purchase if you do a search, and the official free Ubuntu documentation is here:

I note that the official ubuntu guide is licensed under the creative commons and as such is freely redistributable, but the others on that site aren’t so freely licensed.

I wonder, is it wise and indeed morally right to publicly link to and promote a site that seems not to respect copyright and license on the work of others?

Would it not make more sense once you have bought and read the book to link to an online purchase site such as amazon where your site visitors could buy a copy and thus support those who write these fine works?

It seems that, only the Official Ubuntu book is released under CC license… Meaning the others on the site are violating copyright. But as it’s a Chinese site, they probably don’t care!
