I got all the way to the adding panel applet and my Ubuntu panel is gone... How do I get it back?

I tried gnome-panel and all i get is an err msg &quot;I&#039;ve detected a panel already running, and will now exit&quot; and nothing happens. I&#039;m stuck, how do I get my panel back?

FYI, it was gone before I started this process. I accidentally deleted my only panel and need it back so I can continue this process.</description>
