GRAMPS is a genealogy program. It helps you organize your family tree, and is capable of exchanging data with other programs using the GEDCOM standard.
Install GRAMPS in Ubuntu
First you need to download .deb packge from here
Install this .deb package by double clicking or using the following command from your terminal
sudo dpkg -i gramps_3.2.0-1_Ubuntu09.deb

Actually, I used Gramps for a while after switching from WINXP to Ubuntu. However, once I found PHPGedView there was no longer any need.
Overall, Gramps is a very good genealogy program equal to the more popular window$ products.
