No. The new LTS only has Firefox 3.5

Ubuntu / Canonical really needs to get new versions of Mozilla based applications out faster!

Thankfully in about 15 days you won't have to worry about it because the next LTS will be out and Ubuntu will offer to upgrade you to that (which will have FF 3.6 by default)

I followed this instructions step by step, everything installed, but firefox can't be started. The FF icon in the taskbar changed to a globe icon with the tooltip text "Namoroka Web Browser", clicking onto that does nothing!

The previous version of FF does not work anymore too.

I am using Ubuntu 8.04.

Why is it always nearly impossible to install new software on ubuntu. I am using ubuntu now for almost 3 years and it NEVER worked as written in the tutorials!

Please note that firefox-3.6 from this ppa is broken - it doesn't support java at all.

Default ubuntu version works with icedtea browser plugin just fine.

Great link. Pity it does not work... Have installed the getdeb repo. Doing and update and upgrade in a terminal produces this:

Failed to fetch http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu/pool/apps/f/filezilla/filezilla_3.3.1-1~getdeb1_i386.deb 302 Found
Failed to fetch http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu/pool/apps/f/filezilla/filezilla-common_3.3.1-1~getdeb1_all.deb 302 Found

BTW - I am on Kubuntu 9.10 with KDE 4.3.5. Just updated Firefox to 3.6.

Hi,
I installed these packages:
firefox
firefox-3.6
firefox-branding
firefox-gnome-support
firefox-3.6-gnome-support
ubufox

1) Firefox uses bold, terrible antialiased fonts in menus nad for rendering webpages as well. How to tune Firefox to look as native GNOME application? Why Firefox do not respect default GNOME appearance on the 1st place?

2) How to tell Firefox to use font 10px? Font settings have only partial efect.
