Firefox (formerly known as Phoenix and Firebird) is a redesign of the Mozilla browser component. It is similar to Galeon, K-Meleon, and Chimera, but it is written using the XUL user interface language and was designed to be cross-platform.

Fixed several security issues
Install firefox 6 on ubuntu
Open the terminal and run the following commands
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/firefox-stable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
Localize your firefox 6 using the following command
sudo apt-get install firefox-locale-$code
where code is the two-letter symbol of your language.
or you could just run update as it was added to the normal repos yesterday
Firefox 6 has been released on August 16
just tape
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
or use google chrome and not care about mozilla updates *trollface*
actually you can download it from official website
Just download and unpack from the official site or go to ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/latest-6.0 and grab it from there. It’s alot fast than the repos 😉
Btw Alexandr: GC sucks.. sorry to say so.
personally rather sudo aptitude install firefox
instead of sudo apt-get upgrade.
skips unwanted upgrades.
I like this! Mint 9 would only update Firefox to 3.6.22, which is sort of old. Later versions of Mint/Ubuntu updates FF to a current version.
Or like Alexandr said, you can always use Google Chrome, it’s faster anyway.
thanks, that was clear and simple 😉
How do I unpack the firefox-6.0.2.tar.bz2 file
and what must I do after unpacking?
