Hi Ketan. You must first remove konsole from within adept. Then install konsole-kde4. I had these errors when upgrading before and removing the previous version allowed the new install. Hope this helps.

I've been very happy with the install and am using KDE daily. I installed some programs (with the package manager) screensavers and some software updates last night. When I started Firefox my bookmarks were missing. I got an error message saying my calendar had wnot been saved properly. I tried shutting completely down, when I try to re-start, I click on KDE session (as always), enter my password (no, not forgotten), and the screen returns to the sign on screen. I tried starting a Knome session, same problem. I tried recovery mode, same problem. I started a (was it terminal?) session and was able to enter my user name and password ok, but what do I do from here? I have the terminal screen.

After following this titorial, for some reason I still only have KDE (3) as a session choice at login, even though repeating the "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" command confirms 0 to install and 0 to upgrade.
I added the repository to the sources list, I even installed the KDE 4 PIM packages. What could I be doing wrong?

Thnaks.

Got it working just fine. However, I have reverted back to kde3.5. There are too many things yet missing in kde4 for now: no panel hiding is the biggy for me, but also all panel configuration in general, administrator mode for login manager, etc. , etc., I don't understand why kde4 was released with this much missing !

Mark,
I'm just guessing, but you may need to choose "KDE 4.1 session" when you login. On the login screen (when you boot up the computer), look for a dropdown box that says "Session type" or something like that (I forget the exact terms used).
