Now, if someone could come up with a way for Amarok 1.4 Handbook to be accessible from the F1 key or the Help menu while running in Gnome. Better yet, how about a version of Amarok that is ported to Gnome and uses the Gnome “Yelp” help browser? I’ve tried various media players available for Linux and they all fall short of Winamp 2.78 on Windows, and that program was released about 10 years ago! Pathetic.

in Karmic I had to run:
sudo aptitude purge amarok amarok-utils

before it would fully install.

There is a Karmic repository for all things KDE3 (including Amarok 1.4!) here: https://launchpad.net/~kde3-maintainers/+archive/ppa

Simply install amarok-kde3.

Beautiful!!! I loved Amarok, but they just killed the poor thing (bloated to death) in version 2. I’ve been using Rhythmbox and suffering through it’s podcast problems … it will be so nice to have a working, full-featured (podcasts, music library, etc) music player again.
