Doesn’t work on abit is 7-error message eee_acpi module not installed!
update to my previous post-“error while communicating with eee-control-daemon! Make sure it is running.” This while attempting to start program from panel.
I’ve a progblem with this package. It shows me “Python-dev didn’t installed”. So i can’t istall this, and i coludn’t solve this error.
I hae a newly ubuntu-netbook-remix karmic koal and i cannot install due to missing ‘hotkeys’ package. I cant’ find this dependdancy anywhere on synaptic. The most similar is hotkey-setup which i figure it’s nearly the same but it’s not enough. Where can I find ‘hotkeys’?
thanks
it installs fine after meeting the dependencies in karmic. this means you also need the hotkeys and python-dev etc… installed
not sure if it does any good, cause i did not have time to measure the performance difference but it seems to work well on my eeepc 1005HA

Cannot create File or Directory »data/etc«: No such file or directory.
it is run on 9.10 and a Asus EeePC 1005.
Any help?
I’m having the same problem: “error creating directory ‘data/etc’: No such file or directory”
Asus 1005HA running Karmic Remix
FYI – Dan loaded up a fix for the “error creating directory” error.
Thanks Dan
Doesn’t work on Asus 1101 HA. Some Fn keys don’t work, like screen gamma…

Thanks a lot! Installation works fine after using this line-> sudo apt-get -f install
Only thing i miss is the screen resolution under hotkey 2. Anybody got an idea?
Using Karmic KDE, installs fine but as soon as it is launched, the screen goes all crazy and locks computer. Using the 511 bios on the 701 (fsb is 100 from bios); not sure if this issue is caused because this is made for gnome, or if it is my bios version. Was looking to install this to control fan speed which can be kind of crazy at times.
eee 901 can’t set cpu speed.
I have a problem with Lucid on a 1000HE, at the end of the installation it gave me the following message:
Cannot access ACPI control files!
Make sure the modules eeepc_acpi (or eeepc_laptop) are loaded.
After reboot left and right clicking on the “Eee” icon doesn’t have any effect and a tooltip shows the following message:
Error while communicating with eee-control-daemon! Make sure it is running.
Lost sound after installing on eeepc 1100HA. Volume control applet shows output volume as 100%; no ‘mute’ items checked. Must have sound. Needed for using accessibility apps Orca and Speech-dispatcher.
I tried this on my EeePC 900 20G/Linux with 900MHz Celeron M on Ubuntu 10.04 UNE. There was some cvs errors that didn’t didn’t look like a big deal. hotkey-setup was not found. My acpi still reports no fan found. My hotkeys were already working and still are. I was unable to toggle SD reader, but the webcam appeared to. The CPU options are limited to two options Performance and Normal. There was 3 hotkey options available. Basically a waste of time and space I guess. My battery info has never been correct on this thing either but I guess that’s unrelated to eee-control.

Thanks so much for this. Ubuntu lucid perfect install, first had the daemon error, but a restart fixed that. Cheers!
