Does not work on lucid.
Cannot access ACPI control files!
Make sure the modules eeepc_acpi (or eeepc_laptop) are loaded.

running: sudo modprobe eeepc-laptop

returns
FATAL: Error inserting eeepc_laptop (/lib/modules/2.6.32-21-generic/kernel/drivers/platform/x86/eeepc-laptop.ko): No such device

I have a problem with Lucid on a 1000HE, at the end of the installation it gave me the following message:

Cannot access ACPI control files!
Make sure the modules eeepc_acpi (or eeepc_laptop) are loaded.

After reboot left and right clicking on the “Eee” icon doesn’t have any effect and a tooltip shows the following message:

Error while communicating with eee-control-daemon! Make sure it is running.
"

Confirmed for Lucid netbook remix

I tried this on my EeePC 900 20G/Linux with 900MHz Celeron M on Ubuntu 10.04 UNE. There was some cvs errors that didn't didn't look like a big deal. hotkey-setup was not found. My acpi still reports no fan found. My hotkeys were already working and still are. I was unable to toggle SD reader, but the webcam appeared to. The CPU options are limited to two options Performance and Normal. There was 3 hotkey options available. Basically a waste of time and space I guess. My battery info has never been correct on this thing either but I guess that's unrelated to eee-control.

Lost sound after installing on eeepc 1100HA. Volume control applet shows output volume as 100%; no 'mute' items checked. Must have sound. Needed for using accessibility apps Orca and Speech-dispatcher.

Using Karmic KDE, installs fine but as soon as it is launched, the screen goes all crazy and locks computer. Using the 511 bios on the 701 (fsb is 100 from bios); not sure if this issue is caused because this is made for gnome, or if it is my bios version. Was looking to install this to control fan speed which can be kind of crazy at times.
