Any other suggestions for the latest 1.1.0 to download???

Maybe you are trying to install the package from the wrong arcitechtur(i386).You probably need the 64 bit version or vice versa?

i cant install this by this method..
failed to fetch some files from http://in.archive.ubuntu.com
plz help out with this..
i cant install other mp3 players ..
its showing cannot install in this computer type(i386)
i m using proxy server for internet connection which allows only 20 mb file to download …
is that the prob?????

It is a big problem.you can’t use software in ubuntu software center without updating your system with the help of update manager.

Try installing it on openSuSE, it’s only one one click in the package manager (add community repositories and choose VideoLAN) Or you use the One-click install provided by the Videolan page.

Very detailed instructions are given in the vlc’s website. Just do a google search for ‘vlc’ or/and goto the download page(http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html). You will see the instructions.

While installing on Ubuntu would be one of the simplest, others are not that hard either.

I don’t know if you still have the problem with sound, but what I did is: go to preferences, expand audio, and uncheck the momno conversion filter. It worked for me… I hope it does the trick for you too.

Installed fine on Jaunty and the video plays smoothly. However the sound goes on and off about once per second. Tried all the various sound output devices, and is now set to PulseAudio which works fine elsewhere. Any ideas?

Ubuntu 9.04 64bit
If you have problem like me with no video output but with sound,there is a way to fix it.

Try changing the output module of vlc player to open gl.

This option by going in tools> preferences>video>output module there first check advanced options and then change the module to opengl.

It did the trick for me.

I found out the problem. I mixed up the Ubuntu versions. I run Jaunty not Intrepid =D Quick change in the repo’s and it’s done!

Wanted to do it but it wanted to install many libqt4-* packages… So I didnot do it… Is it normal ? Why does it requires those packages where previous version of VNC did not require them ?
