Install Ubuntu Chromium Browser (Google Chrome for Linux)

First Step : add the following lines to Ubuntu Software Sources

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-daily/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-daily/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main

Final Step : install Chromium browser:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install chromium-browser
or
sudo aptitude install chromium-browser

Hm…. Maybe they’ll release a version for Linux soon. Cause Google is coming out with their OS remember?. And their gonna be using linux’s Kernel.

But I’m gonna hate the New OS From Google cause you save all your data online the internet and if you have personal stuff they’ll check it…… No privacy. Makes it easier for Hackers.

I rather stay with Ubuntu.

I had to install msxml3 using winetricks. Otherwise the installation always failed.
No other changes were necessary using the latest Wine with a bare .wine directory.

wine chrome_installer.exe doesnt work I get the error windows requires update, update via windows update.How could i fix this?

Note:- Wine 1.1.4 has been released, and includes fixes for running Chrome.You need to make sure you have the wine version

while installing wine with the link it throws a public key error

Hi, I have followed all the instructions and installed Chrome with latest wine. But as I request for a new page using Chrome, the program immediately halts. Why is that? Can you help?

Update: These instructions worked for me. Had to create the Plugins directory (don’t forget your user name which was omitted in the path provided).

Very good. Installing Flash crashes here though. Also, despite the Google documentation, it looks like a Java plugin doesn’t work (even in Windows).

I tried this, but chrome does not run very well. For example, if I try to sign in to gmail, I get
