Good tutorial. But I have a question. When I create 2 accounts (one is mine and the other one belongs to my sister), Pidgin mixes the friends of both accounts in one window. I mean I want to be like in Multi Messenger on Windows: each one has his own window with his friends. Not one window..and there all our friends mixed. Can I do this?

Let me laugh. It is not posible to use videochat yet in Ubuntu jaunty. It will be possible in karmic, where pidgin is not included as default IM client.

Sounds absolutely logical :D

If you want video and voice you have to install the required versions of the libraries (not in Jaunty's Repos) and then compile it for yourself.

Otherwise you can wait for Koala.

Looking over things, it appears that the Voice and Video are Disabled be default. This was viewed from the help screen at the bottom going through the configuration. So it appears that the packages were not compiled with this support included. Am I correct or have I over looked something?

After installing, pidgin reported that I have no accounts configured ... Which is strange since they were. So I had to reconfigure all my accounts based on data from accounts.xml, strangely the new pidgin stores the result there too, so I have no idea why I should redo this process ...

I gave up waiting for it to appear in the developer's repo so I installed the getdeb packages.

Unfortunately, it looks like at this stage it is only supporting XMPP accounts and it is disabled in Jaunty because the library versions are not new enough.
