  1. RC says:

Every browser claims to be lightweight… It’s always a lie, in my experience.

I tried Midori on Rhel6. Pretty fast, but only because of the ancient version of gtkwebkit. Installiing a newer version became an utter nightmare… It wants the very latest glib/gtk and related libs, and then a long, long chain of dependencies to compile it from source. I wasn’t about to replace my nice stable base libs to experiement with a browser, so I compiled it all in a chroot, and what a huge hassle that was… Hours and hours, over a couple days. And I ended up doing all that damn work twice, for x64 and x86.

And in the end? Not one bit faster or lower resource usage than Firefox ESR. Plenty of marks against it… Clunkier interface, and less customizable than Firefox. So no advantages that I see.

To add insult to injury, you can download a working Windows buld from their website, no trouble at all.
