yo Chika: 1-Pinguy OS is Ubuntu,not a new OS, but with some modification:
a: removed wubi.exe (not work with windows7 in dual boot), no dual boot.
b: added docky
c: added Elementary-Nautilus themes
d: conky and other shit.
if u want a good os from linux with dual boot try ubuntu or kubuntu, kiwilinux…….

hello everyone, i am kinda new to linux and i need some help. Right so i had windows 7 32-bit and installed ubuntu worked perfectly then i bought a graphic card (xfx ati raedeon 43500) gave a few problems had to reinstall windows so ubuntu was deleted so now i reinstalled windows 7 but this time the 64-bit version and tried to install ubuntu 64-bit didnt work it booted to the pink screen and restarted so i tried the 32-bit version it booted to the ubuntu logo and stayed theresame theng with pinguy os 64-bit it boots to the slection screen and when i slect an option it runs and gives errors i checked my hardware i didnt find any thing was wrong please help i want to install pingus os

my specs:

intel pentinum D 3.0ghz
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Ram: 2Gb
xfx ati raedeon 4350

I really like this everything started like a dream wifi | TV all the stuff that I have found hard.
Simple question on the default desktop there is a systems monitor set up as some sort of widget - what is running that can I change it - don’t want to remove it.

This is the first Distro that I can use. Thank you for freeing me from windows. I have tried to install 6 different distros, this one worked out of the box. wireless networking card WORKING when I first ran the system!! Again Thank You!

Love this distro but have a problem with the Intel 64 [not only with your build] and getting the restricted drivers which I need to be able to underscan for the Pano. Any help would be appreciated

Looks fan-tas-tic and easy to use.
I’ve been using Ubuntu since 7.04 but this looks even better. I wish I had this distro when I began using Linux…a newbie’s dream come true.

Very nice distro!
As Pinguy is based on Ubuntu 10.04, my Sony laptop’s built in microphone will not work. However, I am sure it will when and if Pinguy goes to Ubuntu 10.10.
I found this to be so with Mint 10. So I shall stay with Mint for the time being, but keep an interested eye open for any Pinguy revisions.

Hey cool distro ive already installed it on my laptop but ive got a little problem - i didn’t format the /home partition cause i didn’t want to lose all the data and i didn’t had space to backup it and after installation i have the pinguy dock panel and the old ubuntu gnome-panels so what can do to get only the pinguy dock panel ?

bro, LOVED it. totally nice. kicks linux mint’s ass. but hey, would you consider writing up the process of how you put this distro together? like how you were able save all the desktop and software modifications and create a bootable image…(remastersys-maybe?)….it’ll help me and some other remastering-n00bs…thanxx

You need to find a better file host - hotfile extorts you with insane download times unless you are a premium member - 3.8 hrs vs 22 minutes? Really?

Your dropbox account is frozen due to bandwidth overage. So I cannot get the 32-bit version.

kernel.org would host it for you, has decent download speeds, and is free. Why force us to use incredibly slow or expensive methods to get your files?

So where I would have tried it out and possibly converted my boot-keys from ubuntu to pinguy, now I’ll just skip it. If I find the ISO on a real mirror, I’ll reconsider.

I have been a GNU/Linux user for a long time. I am an ardent lover of Debian GNU/Linux. Debian GNU/Linux is always on my notebook. But, my desktop is always ready for distrohopping. I have installed nearly all the major flavors of GNU/Linux and have enjoyed the freedom this movement has to offer.

I haven’t tested the OS’s on a EeePC 900A but it seems like this netbook works under Ubuntu 10,04 and as this distro at it’s base core is Ubuntu 10,04 it should work.

But still check to see if your netbook will run Ubuntu 10,04, if it can it will be able to run Pinguy OS.

What did you use to create this custom distro? I have used reconstructor in the past, but since they switched to some sub-par web based app, I have been looking for an alternative.

Love the distro! It’s perfect for work.

One problem I had though was that I couldn’t get the wireless to work on my Dell E6400… but found this tutorial and it worked! Hopefully this will help someone else.
