Used to use this on Xandros and Ubuntu Hardy Heron - awesome!! Just installed it on Ubuntu Eee, instead of Totem player, and it wont play any files at all but MPlayer does :s ??

Video->Equalizer. Adjust the brightness, contrast… as you like, and the click on the button “Set as default values”. These values will be use for all videos.

I’m using Dapper LTS. You may want to further refine the installation w/ instructions on how to install in Dapper LTS and subsequent releases. Here’s a readout of what I got after following the instructions:

dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of smplayer:
smplayer depends on libc6 (>= 2.5-0ubuntu1); however:
Version of libc6 on system is 2.3.6-0ubuntu20.5.
smplayer depends on libgcc1 (>= 1:4.1.2); however:
Version of libgcc1 on system is 1:4.0.3-1ubuntu5.
smplayer depends on libqt4-core (>= 4.2.3); however:
Package libqt4-core is not installed.
smplayer depends on libqt4-gui (>= 4.2.3); however:
Package libqt4-gui is not installed.
smplayer depends on libqt4-qt3support (>= 4.2.3); however:
Package libqt4-qt3support is not installed.
smplayer depends on libstdc++6 (>= 4.1.2); however:
Version of libstdc++6 on system is 4.0.3-1ubuntu5.
dpkg: error processing smplayer (--install):
dependency problems - leaving unconfigured

How to adjust the brigtness, contrast? It is changing to default everytime I open new video file? How to get custom brightness etc?

For Pierissimo: run qtconfig (or qtconfig-qt4) and there you can change the style, fonts… for all Qt 4 apps.

For Lowks: it’s strange that subtitles don’t work. Try for instance to change the font for subtitles in the preferences dialog.

For Jj and MyKel: you need to install the qt3support package.

I’ve been looking for a long time for a good video player. SMplayer is really good, it does everything I need, and it handles subtitles really great.

I really like SMPlayer. I only found a few problems when using it, that is for some reason I couldn’t get subtitles to work. Aside from this little gripe it was just heavenly.

one question… I’ve dowloaded and installed 0.5.0 version of smplayer. My interface is very bad-looking. In your screen smplayer seems more integrated with qt engine. why? I have 4.2.3 versione of qt.Here’s a screen of my smplayer

Hi,

Did what you said but SMPlayer is not available on the Menu (although there is an icon of sorts.) I am not experienced with the menu editor to correct it any advice?

Tried to open it via the GNOME Terminal w/sudo SMPlayer and got the following response ‘error while loading shared libraries: libQt3Support.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.’

Note: I am using LTS Dapper
