If you have EVER used automatix (this apps predecessor), you would know that it also did not check well enough apps or packages that might or might not harm your system. The last versions were not very stable in entirety and were prone to issues.
What it does do is
1. fix the issues of that not every one wants to have to struggle to get media playback (though it is so very easy now even for non geeks - google "medibuntu")
2. Presents things in a very add/remove apps sort of way.
oh and @berciXcore
"9) Linux is still not Windows."
Yeah um maybe thats the point.
like Vista is some sort of champ, and please don't lie and say it is, because we all know it sucks.

to solve the install issue like the one quoted by FN/Frederick Noronha and sunil.
You can go to synaptic package manager.. and look at the broken packages which will list ultamatix.
Select that package, and synaptic will automatically install the dependent s/w, which will let you run Ultamatix

Some of the problems have been fixed, dependency, packages and such.
Ultamatix 1.8.0-4:

    * Added debug routine to help find any errors (--debug)
    * Exclusive lock class subroutine written (makes the possibility of package breakage nearly impossible)
    * Tons of python code cleanup
    * Total restructor of file layout to comply with debian standards
    * Added option to add repos or not (can still be removed through menu if user changes their mind later)
    * Added key gathering routine if the user decides to use repositories
    * All Icons are now custom and included
    * Removed dependencies for tango-icon-theme-common,and tango-icon-them

I think it is better to install the package using Synaptic, since there are 3 dependencies which caused the command "sudo dpkg -i ultamatix-1.8.0-3_all.deb" as mentioned above, to fail.

I think you should open the downloaded package with Synpatic, which then will take care of the dependencies and will download them.

In my case, I just started Synaptic after the installation failed, it then told me that there are packages to be repaired, which I then selected from the "File" menu within Synaptic. After applying it, everything was fine.

Be aware that this is 'geek' stuff and not for the newbee to undertake. Warnings against ultramatix and it's predecessor are to be found plenty on Google. As a newbee you should be aware of the fact that most people in the Ubuntu community will not help you with any problems once they know you run this app. The reason therefor are simple.

1. The official way to install apps are the packaging apps like synaptic and apt.
2. Because of the nature of the source you can easily become infected with mall ware after giving an app like this root access.

So unless you are a geek (a paranoid one I might add) leave your fingers from Ultamatix.

it has serious problems:
1) It's license says GPL, but I can't find the tar.gz source package anywhere.
2) The forums are not even readable without registration. That's quite conflicting not only the spirit of Ubuntu, but the spirit of Linux and GNU as a whole.
3) the script doesn't check for not creating repository source duplicates, even the Ultimate Edition is added twice. And You don't get any further info on the website about the repos that this app will add to Your sources.list, You can chack it only after installing and running.
4) the script doesn't check for the already installed apps, like w32codecs, Skype, *-restricted-extras, etc.
5) the Show/Hide KDE apps button does nothing at all.
6) the official Add/Remove... app is not that hard to use, it's not a great challenge to search in it.
7) installing the official *-restricted-extras package is not that hard, really.
8) using medibuntu, the only unofficially official repo is not that hard also, installing non-free-codecs is as easy as setting up an e-mail client - well, even easier.
9) Linux is still not Windows.
10) etc.

Unrecommended to use, sorry. The coder should work some more on it, fix the serious bugs inherited from Automatix, and make it totally Ubuntu friendly. No I'm not going to register at the forums to complain, see reason above at 2).
