Oracle released VirtualBox 3.1.8, a maintenance release of VirtualBox 3.1 which improves stability and fixes regressions.

Install .deb packages using the following command from your terminal

sudo dpkg -i virtualbox-3.1_3.1.8-61349~Ubuntu~lucid_i386.deb

    vmware is much faster than virtualbox.
    on an amd64 platform, virtualbox has crawled compared to similar vmware install..i will test to see if this update will fix that, but i’m not hopefull
