How to Install thunderbird 6 on ubuntu using PPA
Thunderbird is a free email application that's easy to set up and customize -- and it's loaded with great features!
What is new in thunderbird 6
The latest version of Thunderbird has the following changes:
Thunderbird is based on the new Mozilla Gecko 6 engine
Several theme improvements for Windows 7
Support for Windows 7 Jump lists
Several fixes when importing email from Microsoft Outlook
Default mail client check now works with newer Linux distributions
Various other user interface fixes and improvements
Numerous platform fixes that improve speed, performance, stability and security
Install thunderbird 6 on ubuntu using PPA
Open the terminal and run the following commands
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/thunderbird-stable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install thunderbird
I don’t get a new version of Thunderbird when I run these commands. It says Thunderbird is already the newest version. I currently have Thunderbird 3.1.11 installed.
Looks like there are no 64-bit binaries.
I just tried the commands above on 10.10 64 bit and they worked.
Works now, with Thunderbird 7 64 bit! 🙂
Thanks to whomever for the three commands.
Allowed me to update a Ubuntu 10.04 LTS system to thunderbird 10.0.2 on a 64 bit system…
did have to run the “sudo apt-get update” twice to resolve some conflicts.
This command is working
Thanks
