Okay, so I’m new at Linux. Going okay so far though I think.
But.
Having followed the steps involved, and mostly understanding what is being done, I have installed VLC (by far my favourite media viewer/player). However, under Ubuntu, I can’t get it to play any video. Every video I try, which all worked under Windoze, tell me that the codec is unavailable and “there is nothing I you can do”.
What have I missed?
after I updated to VLC 1.1.9, my player isn’t working good. sometimes the audio doesn’t work, sometimes the application closes automatically.
or just install it from the repos. Ive installed vlc from the repos dozens of times and have had no desire to ever upgrade.
Um, thanks, but remember: New at this? Therefore: Repos? 🙂
i’ve downloaded it, but the sound isn’t working! at all! the video is perfect but there is no sound!
