Install vlc 2.0 in ubuntu

Open the terminal and run the following commands

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:n-muench/vlc
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install vlc

    This works only in 11.10. In lucyd it installs 1.3

    in my case it intalls version 1.1.13 not 2.0

    Yes, it only works for 11.10 or later, I guess you could download the tar file and install from that, but I will just wait until it hits the repositories, or until I upgrade.

    This is true. This procedure reinstalls 1.1.14 in Ubuntu 10.10. Come on guys. You can do better than that.

    Its not compatible with kernel 3.0.0-16-generic yet
