I have been using UNISON for sycing my laptop & desktop computers with excelent results. I didn’t know about this app.. I’ll check it out.
How did you add the sudo remove option?
I’ve been using rsync for at least 10 years to mirror directories.
Perhaps you can clarify what “strictly the same” really means. Is it owner.group AND perms in addition to the mirroring of files? Are softlinks handled in any special way? what about named pipes or fifos?
Hello,
I just discover ubuntu geeks and find out your questions.
Let me answer to your question :
Joel : I think you want to say, how it is possible to detect which file is to delete. In fact I store a snapshot of folders each time you synchronize then I can find what’s append between two synchronizations.
johnP : I’m sorry to inform you that permissions and other “hidden” details are not again managed. This software is addressed to end users, then technicals details like that are not my priority for the moment.
For those interested, the actual version is 1.4.3, faster than version 1.3 series because it is rewritten is C++.
