Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) Release Schedule

Ubuntu team is already planning for 9.10, which will see the light of day in October 2009. The desktop side will focus on beautification and an improved boot-up experience; the server side will target cloud computing.

Ubuntu 9.10 (codename Karmic Koala) will be released this year on October 29th.

May 14th, 2009 -- Alpha 1 release
June 11th, 2009 -- Alpha 2 release
July 23th, 2009 -- Alpha 3 release
August 13th, 2009 -- Alpha 4 release
September 3rd, 2009 -- Alpha 5 release
September 17th, 2009 -- Alpha 6 release
October 1st, 2009 -- Beta release
October 22nd, 2009 -- Release Candidate
October 29th, 2009 -- Final release of Ubuntu 9.10

    Eagerly waiting to see the new look of ubuntu. Brown’s been the official theme for a long time.

    Possibly it will have EXT4 as the default file-system. I usually like running the LTS releases though.

    Ubuntu 9.10 will make 3 years with Ubuntu. I have used 6.10 till end-of-life then 8.04. It has been great and hassle free, and over the time gradually become Windows free.

    And also, over time I have grown to like the brown theme, although I would like a slightly different shade of brown, especially for the window titles. It’s unique I guess.

    The types of images Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) Alpha 5 is classified are Desktop CD, Server install CD, Alternate install CD and UNR live CD. The desktop CD allows you to try Ubuntu without changing your computer at all. The server install CD allows you to install Ubuntu permanently on a computer for use as a server. The alternate install CD allows you to perform certain specialist installations of Ubuntu. The live CD allows you to try Ubuntu Netbook Remix (UNR) without changing your computer at all.     Hopefully , Karmic will be all the more better than its predecessors and although i dont really want to abandon my Jaunty Box , but change is life. ๐Ÿ˜‰
